There has been a well known hatred among Oakland A‘s and San Francisco Giants’ fans in the Bay Area, and each year there is no better example of it than the “Battle of the Bay.” This piece showcases this rivalry through a battle charge that even Mel Gibson would have to give kudos to. 1000s of rowdy fans, from both sides of the bay, charge at each other across the only physical object between the 2 cities, the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Their support unwavering, the crowds get closer and closer as the team colors for each side begin to explode up into the air. The crowds are near their collision point, and the camera pulls out and the logo resolves as the battle begins below.

Following the success of 2009’s Battle of the Bay opening animation, which helped the broadcasts yield their highest ratings in 5 years, 2010’s version had huge expectations to live up to. My solution: Create a Battle Royale.
